Michiel Adriaansz. de Ruyter
Tastingroom ‘De Admiraal’ was called after the former distillery. The logo than is the logo now: a drawing of Admiral Michiel Adriaansz. de Ruyter.
Under his command, the Dutch fleet sailed upon the Thames, via Chatham and broke the chains. De mayor of Chatham was one of the present guests at the opening of our tastingroom at the 20th of May, 1975. Together with the admiralities of Amsterdam he was brought by boat, which delivered them just in front of the entrance of our tastingroom.
With an oblique view to Admiraal de Ruyter, an original figurehead from a Dutch VOC-ship is situated on the front of the building. Recently it’s restaured in original colours. See the picture above.
